Obituary
John Mitchell “Mitch” Alderman Jr., 62, of Waycross died Monday morning (November 13, 2023) at the Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness. Mr. Alderman was born in Waycross to the late John Mitchell Alderman, Sr. and Lorna Margaret Fisher Alderman. He made Waycross his home for many years. Mitch attended culinary school in St. Augustine, Fl and was a sous chef at the Marriott Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl. He co-owned and operated Sidekicks Sandwich Shop in Hatcher Point Mall, and was the head chef at many other restaurants throughout the years, including managing the deli at Winn Dixie. Mitch was loved by many and was the type of person that never met a stranger, he spoke with everyone anywhere he went.
Mitch is survived by three brothers, Rick Alderman & wife Amy of Asheville, NC, Jeff Alderman & wife Alicia of Waycross, Tom Alderman of Brunswick; 2 aunts, & numerous cousins, nieces, & nephews.
A visitation will be held Saturday (November 18, 2023) from 10:00am-12:00pm at Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA, 31501.
