Willard R. Stroup, 77, of Bourbon, MO passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO. Willard Ronald was born on September 22, 1945 to Woodrow and Grace (Mercer) Stroup of Washington County, MO. He attended and graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1963. He was united in marriage to Letha Renner and they were blessed with one son, Willard James. Letha preceded Willard in death. Willard was employed by the former Pea Ridge and Meramec Mining Company from 1971 until its closing. He married Mary Melinda Flint-Smith and they enjoyed many years together. Willard was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time at home and being with family. He also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and caring for his chickens. Willard could fix or repair anything. Willard is survived by his wife, Mary Flint-Stroup of Bourbon, MO; five children: Willard James “Jim” Stroup and wife Tammy of St. Clair, MO, James Lee of Bourbon, MO, Vickie Merkle and husband Richard of De Soto, MO, Cora Reeves of Grubville, MO, and Erin Huskey and husband James of Sullivan, MO; fourteen grandchildren: Jack Stroup, Noah Johnson, Tori Reeves, J.C. Gibbs, Wyatt, Gabe and Mary Grace Huskey, Jeff Merkle, Lisa Jarvis, Joey Merkle, Angie Johnson, Kevin Pope, Karen Williams, and Kayla Swiney; siblings: Betty Harmon and husband Donnie of Sullivan, MO, Charlotte Sherrell and husband Larry of Bourbon, MO, Mitch Stroup of Sullivan, MO, and Sonny Stroup and wife Kathy of Georgia; sisters-in-law: Peggy, Linda and Carolyn Stroup; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Grace Stroup; first wife, Letha (Renner) Stroup; one son, Rick Pope; and four brothers: Jimmy, John, Woodrow and Ricky Stroup. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Raymond Laramore officiating. Interment will follow in United Methodist Church Cemetery, St. Clair, MO. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
