Ginny, an only child, grew up in numerous towns throughout Kansas. While attending Hutchison High School and Junior College, she played first base on the city’s only women’s softball team, traveling throughout the state for games. She then attended Kansas State University where she joined Tri Delta sorority. Before graduation she met her soulmate, Glenn Channell. They married on August 13, 1950 and were married for 53 years until Glenn’s death in 2003. They had four children, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The family moved to Littleton, CO in 1961 where Ginny taught P.E. at several elementary schools. In 1970, the family moved to acreage southeast of Loveland, CO, and built a home. In 1976, Ginny received a Master’s Degree in Special Education from UNC in Greeley, and then taught learning disabled students in Loveland for a number of years. Ginny enjoyed hosting holiday and family gatherings at her home, and tennis matches on her tennis court. She loved helping others, donating her time, tutoring students, and playing bridge. She had a sweet tooth for chocolate and a smile that brightened the day. Ginny was a dedicated K-State supporter, and was Glenn’s copilot on many flying adventures. She will be remembered as independent, kind, humble, fiercely loyal, and intelligent (she was a whiz at puzzles and picking investment stocks). Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandsons Scott Reed and Byron Taylor. Ginny is survived by her sons Gregg Channell of Loveland (grandsons Travis, Kyle, and Trent) and Steve (Sondra) Channell of Placitas, New Mexico (grandchildren Taylor and Stephanie); her daughters Christy (Chauncey) Taylor of Loveland (grandchildren Layne and Amy) and Wendy (Dave) Reed of Longmont (granddaughter Michelle); and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in mid-January 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
