View Tribute Book Dover – Verna J. “Dode” Boudreau, 86, formerly of Stoneham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2022. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 17, 1936 in Malden, Massachusetts, Verna was the daughter of the late Alfred and Ida (Tingdahl) Dodier. Verna was born and raised in the Malden area and graduated from Malden High School in 1954. Following graduation, Verna worked briefly at a radio station (currently KISS108FM) and then married and started her family. She spent much of her working life as a secretary in the Stoneham Public Schools for the “best boss” ever, Dr. Frank Gagliardi. Upon retiring from the public schools, Verna became a “nanny” to her grandchildren and then enrolled in the University of New Hampshire to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a college graduate. In a triumphant ceremony, Verna graduated from UNH with her bachelor’s degree in English in May 2015. A lover of learning, Verna continued to collect books, and enjoyed crafting and working on puzzles. She also loved her pets and time spent with family and friends, especially at Lovell Lake, which she frequently referred to as “God’s country.” Later in life, Verna became a woman of great faith and a dedicated member of First Parish Congregational Church, where she served on the Craft and Historical Committees, volunteered and made many wonderful new friends. She also enjoyed living with her beloved Duffy family and being a member of the greater Dover community, including her many friends on Cielo Drive. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Joan O’Connell, and all her in-laws. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Renee Wilson and husband, Jeff, of Woburn, MA, Karen Duffy and husband, Patrick, of Dover, NH, Beth Downs and husband, Jeff, of York, ME, and Nancy Carlson Badger, of Etowah, North Carolina; grandchildren, Vernon Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Erin Wilson, Sarah Duffy, Ian Duffy, Timothy Downs, and Garrett Downs; great-grandchildren, Adalia Wilson, Jaina Wilson, and Julien Duffy; also many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, December 3rd at 11 AM at First Parish Church, 218 Central Avenue, Dover, NH. A celebration of life will follow at Patty B’s Beehive, 34 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH. To leave a condolence for the family, please visit www.taskerfuneralservice.com.
