View Tribute Book Thomas Hetzel Thomas passed away after a brief illness on Friday, December 9, 2022, in Leesburg, FL. He was born April 1, 1941, in Milwaukee, WI to Guyle and Dorothy (Rozak) Hetzel. Tom is survived by his wife, Nancy and his son, Eric. He is further survived by twin brothers Tim (Karen) and Todd, sisters-in-law Mary (Ken) Kerr, and Sue (Craig) DeGear and brother-in-law Robert (Gail) Shimpach, along with 11 nieces and nephews. A member of Muskego High School’s first graduating class in 1959, Tom excelled in athletics participating in baseball, track, basketball and football. He was the quarterback for Muskego High School’s football team when they won their first Braveland Conference championship that year. He continued his quarterbacking at UW-River Falls where he graduated in 1966 with a degree in history and political science. Tom used his degree to teach history in the Whitnall School District for over 30 years until his retirement in 1997. Tom’s lifelong enjoyment of sports and athletic activities included cheering on the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. He was Eric’s biggest and most loyal fan, proudly supporting Eric throughout his school years and continuing that loyalty supporting the teams Eric coaches in Muskego. Tom loved to travel! From cross country trips to international adventures, he loved it all. Tom enjoyed exploring the countryside of southwest Wisconsin on road trips to Bagley and Boscobel, taking relaxing boat rides on the Mississippi River, and celebrating the USA at small town Independence Day parades for many years. But perhaps the most cherished trips were the ones he took with Nancy and Eric, especially their annual journeys to Disney World. Tom will always be remembered as a kind and thoughtful husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be missed by many.
