He was born February 1, 1945, in Danville, VA to the late James Rigney and the late Inez Rigney. Steve attended St. Marks Pentecostal Holiness Church and Whitmell Christian Church. He is survived by his son, Lanerd Steve Rigney, II; grandchildren, Christopher Rigney (April) and Alexandra Rigney; great-grandson, Landon Rigney; sisters, Arlene Rigney and Hillie Robertson; and brothers, Addison Rigney (Mary), Saford Rigney (Becky), and Jerry Rigney. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Mary Evelyn Robertson Rigney; sisters, Genell Wyatt, Geneva Jones, and Elizabeth Crumpton; and brother, Clayton Rigney. A funeral will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Norris Funeral Services, 3995 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540 with Rev. Jerry Foley officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Danville Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor J.B. Baldridge. “God Bless, I love you, bye”.
