View Tribute Book Sarah Jane (DeVault) Willett, 92, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022 at Linda E. White Hospice House. Sarah was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 7, 1930 to the late Clarence and Mary Pearl (Truelove) DeVault. Sarah was raised in a large family, the 7th of 8 children. All throughout her life family was her priority. She stayed close to her siblings, and motherhood was her biggest joy. Sarah was a faithful catholic her entire life, she attended St Benedict Catholic Church and School as a child and graduated from Memorial High School in 1948. As she and her husband, Mason began their family, they raised their three children in a catholic home. Making their house a home was important to Sarah and she always included a pet dog as a family favorite. Through the years her place of worship was St John’s the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh, where she volunteered at Mother Teresa Treasures. Sarah was active throughout her lifetime, she learned the game of golf at the age of 33 as a member of Rolling Hill Country Club. Sarah was awarded the Rolling Hills Ladies Golf Champion title numerous times in the 70’s and 80’s. She even carried her own bag 18 holes and finally turned in her clubs at age 80. Sarah was an avid sports fan especially Norte Dame. She enjoyed attending many football games there with her children and grandchildren. Sarah had a competitive nature and enjoyed playing cards, bridge and clabber. Sarah is survived by her daughters, Rachel Molt (Heath) of Boonville, IN and Maribeth Wood (Tony) of Indianapolis, IN; son, Nick Willett (Sue) of Newport Beach, CA; grandchildren, James Mason Chambers, Jordan Wood, Jessica Wood, Nicholas Dalton Molt, Nicholas Kent Willett, Daniel Willett, and Alice Kate Willett; and great-grandchild, Rosalyn Chambers. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Mason H. Willett; her parents; sisters, Monica “Betty” Mindrup, Rita Reasor, and Rosemary Laugel; brothers, Donald DeVault, Joseph DeVault, Sr., and John DeVault; and infant brother, Clarence DeVault, Jr. Friends may visit beginning at 11:00 am with funeral services being held at 2:00 pm on Saturday December 17, 2022 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Father Tom Kessler celebrating. Burial will be held at a later date at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, please have a Mass said in her honor at a Catholic Church of your choice.
