Ruth Mary Lauerman September 3, 1924 – November 5, 2022 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Ruth Mary Lauerman passed away on November 5, 2022 after a short illness at her home in Grove, Oklahoma. A Rosary will be recited by Bob Basolo at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Bishop Chapel of Memories. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Leonard Higgins as celebrant. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of McAlester or Integris Hospice of Miami, Oklahoma would be appreciated. Ruth was born on September 3, 1924 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to George and Sadie Fisher. She attended Fond du Lac High School and graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1946. Ruth was a member of the original United States Cadet Nurse Corp. Ruth married John Lauerman on April 7, 1948, and resided in Burbank, California until moving with Lockheed Aircraft to McAlester in January of 1965. Ruth worked in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at St. Mary’s Hospital in McAlester for several years. She graduated from Oklahoma University’s OB/GYN nurse practitioner program in 1976 and was employed by the McAlester clinic in the OB/GYN department until her retirement in 1992. Ruth also served as a board member for Hospice of McAlester and continued to volunteer at McAlester Regional Hospital. She attended St. John’s Catholic Church, and was very active in the Ladies Guild. Ruth remained active throughout her life. She will always be remembered as a positive influence on her family, her community, her church, and all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter-in-law: Katy Lauerman of Cushing, Oklahoma, Mark Lauerman and Debbie Ashmore of McAlester, Anne and John France of Grove, and Jeanne and David Simanski of Greenfield, Massachusetts; her siblings: Jean Costello of Greendale, Wisconsin, Delores Fogarty of Lincoln, California, and Clifford Fisher of Fond du Lac; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren: Lindsay Edwards and spouse, Derrick of Tulsa, Colby Lauerman and wife, Melanie of McAlester, Meagan Boudreaux of Biscoe, Arkansas, Ryan and Kristen Lauerman of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Kelsey Lauerman and fiancé, Connor Ellis, Norman, Benjamin Simanski and wife, Kathleen of Greenfield, and Lauren Mitchell and husband, Justin of Grove; and great-grandchildren: Sadie Lauerman of Tulsa, Brady and Madden Boudreaux of Biscoe, Jaxon and Reid Lauerman of McAlester, William Simanski of Greenfield, and Harrison and Shepard Mitchell of Grove, all of whom will truly miss their Gigi. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents: George and Sadie Fisher; her husband: John of McAlester in 2000; her son James in 2021; her brothers: Darwin, James, Gordan, and Clayton; and a sister: Marcella.
