Rose A. Szczygiel, 87, of Utica, passed away on February 17, 2022, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare. Born on January 16, 1935, in Cranberry Lake, NY, she is the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Pysz) Cehovin. On August 15, 1959, Rose married Edwin R. Szczygiel in St. Patrick’s Church, a blessed union of 62 years. She was employed with Hineline Distribution before retiring. Surviving besides her husband, Ed, are two sons, Mark E. (Lynda Mazzara) Szczygiel and Michael E. (Gina) Szczygiel, all of Utica; two sisters, Joanne Cehovin, Syracuse and Stella Tracy, Marcy; granddaughter, Erica Szczygiel, Merrick, NY; sister-in-law, Charlotte Szczygiel, Utica; nieces, Phyllis Tracy and Sheri Newman. Rose was predeceased by her brother, Frank Cehovin; sister, Nellie Straub, and brother-in-law, Frank Szczygiel. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church. The family will receive guests following the Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Utica.
