Robert ‘Bob’ Raymond Doran Lt. Col. Robert ‘Bob’ Raymond Doran, USMC Ret., passed away on the morning of November 23, 2022 at Billings Clinic Hospital. Bob was born on October 22, 1934 in Culbertson, MT to Meurice and Raymond Doran. He was raised in Sidney, MT and graduated from high school there. After attending college, Bob entered the Naval Aviation School as a cadet in Pensacola, FL, becoming a naval aviator with the United States Marine Corps upon completion. He married Jane Olesen of Sidney, MT. During Bob’s military career, he was stationed at many diverse locations, including Bangkok, Thailand, Cherry Point, NC, and El Toro, CA, where he served as the commander of VMGR- 352. Bob retired from the Marine Corps after 21 years of service, earning numerous medals and commendations. Following retirement from the military, Bob continued to work as a private pilot for several companies, finishing his career with Long Construction Co. Bob is survived by his wife Jane of 65 years, his daughter Christine, grandchildren Brett, Jillian and Bethany, and great- grandchildren Grace, Abigail, and Lillian. He was preceded in death by his daughter Paula. Services will be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church on December 1, 2022 at 2 pm. Funeral arrangements are with Smith Funeral Chapels.
