Robert Dean Larson of Salem, Missouri passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the Salem Memorial District Hospital at the age of 83. Robert was born in Sandoval, Illinois on October 29, 1939 to the late Charles Roy and Lonie (Dumas) Larson. Robert proudly served his County in the United States Navy and the Army Nation Guard during the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged on February 6, 1967 after serving just a little over three years. After returning home in November of 1960, he met and married the love of his life Jo Ann, this union was blessed with two daughters. Sadly, JoAnn passed away in November of 2013. He worked in the Quartz Mining industry for most of his career and was the Supervisor of the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed woodworking, tinkering his shop, driving his Polaris Ranger, and playing the Lottery. He was most proud of his family; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He will be lovingly missed by all that knew and loved him. Robert Dean Larson is survived by his daughter, Kathy Koehnen, of Salem, MO; sister, Sue Clark and husband Gary, of Columbia, IL; grandchildren, Christina Higgs (Corey), April Kuhn, Shawn Kuhn, Becky Bacus (Brit), Heather Burgorff (Mike), and Candace (Jeff) Gann. 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, a host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents Charles and Lonie Larson, Robert was preceded in death by his wife Jo Ann Larson, daughter Nancy Larson; three sister, and three brothers, and son-in-law Tom Koehnen. Funeral services for Robert will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Charlie Younger officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at the Jadwin Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved JoAnn. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2-5 PM. Memorials are suggested and greatly appreciated to Jadwin Cemetery, cards are available at all James & Gahr locations.
