Obituary Please share a memory of Robert “Bob” to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Robert (Bob) Stockton was born on February 5, 1929 in Drumheller, Alberta Canada and passed away on December 18, 2022 at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his parents (Fred and Ethel), and his brother and sister (Sam and Jane). Bob quit high school to join the US Marines, in which he served 5 years, including 2 years in Guam as a communications engineer. During his time in the Marines, he realized the importance of a good education, so upon his discharge as a Staff Sergeant, he enrolled at Indiana Tech, and ended up graduating at the top of his class with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, he went to work for Public Service Indiana in Columbus Indiana (PSI later became Cinergy and then Duke Energy). After over 25 years with PSI, Bob left to go work for an international engineering company (CT Main) for several years. In that job he lived in diverse places like Saudi Arabia, Alaska, and Nepal. Upon his return to the US, he went back to PSI for a few more years, and then retired in 2002. He was a very easy-going, likable guy who was loved by all. One of his most outstanding characteristics was his quick wit. Even when dementia robbed him of his memories the last several years, his sense of humor remained fully intact until almost the end. He loved to “tinker” in the garage and yard, usually with a pipe in his mouth (oftentimes unlit). He loved taking flying lessons, and one of his proudest moments was when he soloed. He was an amazing father to his 3 sons. He read them to sleep every night when they were little, played pitch and catch in the backyard, took them on many camping and canoeing trips, attended all their academic and athletic events, and much more. Bob is survived by his wife, Carole Sue Stockton, and 3 sons by a previous marriage, Ken (Cally) Stockton of Fort Collins CO, Steve (Chari) Stockton of Charleston WV, and Glenn (Jeannette) Stockton of Shutesbury MA, as well as 5 grandchildren (Ruth, Sam, Jane Anne, Lucy, and Griffin). We all cherish our memories of him and are very grateful he was a part of our lives. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in 2023.
