Obituary Richard P. Kazmerick, 58, of Exeter, retired early on Saturday following a motor vehicle accident in Plymouth Twp. He is the beloved husband of Theresa Dudzik Kazmerick, with whom he celebrated 34 years of marriage on September 10, 2022. Born in Scranton and raised in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Michael and Jean Konarzewski Kazmerick. He was a 1982 graduate of Old Forge High School. Rick furthered his education and earned his Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Scranton, where he was involved in the ROTC program. Rick began his career at the Third National Bank in Scranton, followed by First Union Bank in Pittston, and then M&T Bank in Wilkes-Barre. He was currently employed as the Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Team Leader at Community Bank in Wilkes-Barre for the past 8 and a half years. He was an executive board member of the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce for several years, where he also served as its immediate past president. He was a board member of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Wyoming Valley as well. Rick was a true family man who took so much pride in them, including his cats and granddogs, and he was happiest in their presence. His backyard and pool were his little oasis where he spent countless hours with his loved ones. He appreciated watching his wife play the piano and enjoyed music, cigars, great brews, fine wine and food, including Old Forge “fridge pizza” late at night. He loved history, reading, and was an avid Penn State football and Yankees fan. He enjoyed traveling and was always looking for the next destination to go to. No one was a stranger to him. He welcomed everyone with open arms whether they just wanted to talk, needed advice, or help with something. No matter how long he spent with someone, he left a lasting impression with his caring personality, loud voice, and boisterous laugh. He had a zest for life, living it to the fullest and finding joy in the simple things. He was the epitome of what a man should be, a role model and an inspiration to everyone that knew him. One of Rick’s all time favorite songs was ELO’s “Mr. Blue Sky”. It was his wife’s ringtone for him. It has a sunny, upbeat vibe. That was Rick and his personality all the time. And that is how he will always be remembered. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Nicole Palkovic, and husband Michael, of Mountain Top and Melissa Kazmerick, of Exeter; his sister, Doreen Adams, and husband Bill, of Clarks Summit; his brother, Michael Kazmerick, and wife Lisa, of Enola; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Lucille Prizzi Dudzik, of Old Forge; two aunts, Hedy Taroli and Rosalie Prizzi, both of Old Forge; his sister-in-law, Mary Kurtz, of Old Forge; nieces and nephews, godchild Christina Kurtz and her fiancé Jeremy Fedor, Tiffany Griffiths, Erica Bednarz, Shannon Kazmerick, and Danny Griffiths; his grandnephew, Nathan Fedor; and best buddy and lifelong friend Mark Bauman. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Saturday at 9:30 AM at Prince of Peace Parish, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge to be celebrated by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor. Additionally, all are welcomed to a Celebration of Life for Rick at 12:00 PM at Leggio’s Italian Restaurant, 1092 Route PA-315, Wilkes-Barre.
