Mr. Raymond Van Woods, age 83, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 in Uriah, Ala. Mr. Woods was born in Monroe County where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a retired supervisor from Vanity Fair Dye House and a member of Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Geneta Woods; his parents, Walter and Maiselle Woods; four brothers, Burl Woods, Alfred Woods, Mason Woods and Johnny Woods; and a sister, Patricia “Duck” Hollinger. Survivors include: three sons, David (Mary) Woods of Repton, Mike Woods of McCullough and Jimmy (Jane) Woods of Poarch; three sisters, Elizabeth “Jody” Byrd of Bay Minette, Betty Sue Fretwell of Semirah Springs and Mary Ella Etheridge of Daphne; a sister-in-law, Mona Helton Woods of Atmore; nine grandchildren, Michael Paul Woods, Mary Nicole Lambert, Jessica Danielle Williams, Joey Sturdivant, Ryan Woods, Jason Sturdivant, Allison Roley, Kyna McDonald and Denise Respress; and many great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Clifton Buchanan and Bro. Jimmy Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Semirah Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, one hour prior to service time at Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
