Pera Dujic, 69 of York, PA, died at his residence on November 15, 2022. He was the husband of Refika (Telalovic) Dujic with whom he observed their 43rd wedding anniversary on January 9, 2022. Born September 26, 1953 in Unka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was the son of the late Vaskrsija and Marica (Patkovic) Dujic. When he was one year old, they moved to Lacarak, Serbia, where he grew up. Pera spent most of his professional career as an elementary school teacher. He was an avid chess player and ran chess clubs for all ages in his school district. Pera enjoyed reading, especially non-fiction literature. He was also a freelance journalist for news outlets in Bosnia and Serbia. While in his home country, he was considered a strong activist who lobbied his government to build roads in the remote areas of Bosnia and led an initiative to build a new school in a remote village. He will be remembered as a gracious and giving person. In addition to his wife, Pera is also survived by two sons, Goran Dujic of York, PA and Jugoslav Dujic and his wife Lyssa of York, PA and grandson, Adrian. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St. York, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St. York, PA.
