Patricia R. Murphy March 1, 1942 – November 11, 2022 Share this obituary View/Sign Guestbook CHESAPEAKE—Patricia Rita Murphy, 80, passed away November 11, 2022. Pat was born March 1, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY. The Navy brought her family to Portsmouth, VA, where she grew up. She attended St. Paul Catholic School, graduating in 1960. Pat retired from the City of Chesapeake, where she worked as an administrative assistant with Youth Services as well as the Detective Bureau and Narcotics Divisions. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends while staying active with her love for 60s beach music. She would gather with friends at local dance clubs like Fat Rogers, Upperdeck, and The Royal Courtyard, enjoying bands like Bill Deal and The Rhondels, the Embers, and Ammon Tharp. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Justiniano and Rita Salanga; brother Eugene “Gene” Salanga; and sister Barbara Gibson. She is survived by her sons David (Tamie) of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael (Tammy) of Portsmouth, VA; grandchildren Jonathon Murphy, Laural Murphy, Nicole Auriemma; and great-grandchildren Anthony Vidallon, Lydia Vidallon, and Cayce Auriemma. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 25, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth.
