He was born October 31, 1934 in Keo, Arkansas. Bob served in the U. S. Army. Bob was a member of Vimy Ridge Immanuel Baptist Church and the Teamsters Union. He is preceded in death by his father, John Cook; mother, Mabel Cook; wife of 49 years, Mamie Cook; daughter, Virginia Cook; six brothers, Carl, Argel, Julian Sr., Calvin, Burl and Neal; and two sisters, Ruth and Micky. Bob started out as a mechanic at International Harvester and then for Wonder Potato Chips. He later became a truck driver, driving for Safeway and then he retired from ABF. For many years he remained a shade-tree mechanic and often worked on friends and family members vehicles to help them out. His kids always had go-carts, mini bikes, motorcycles or some type of “wheeled” entertainment. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, so much so, that he once owned a second home on Lake Conway and then later, on the AR River next to his in-laws until a flood destroyed it. So many great memories were made there on the river. In his early years, he loved to “coon” hunt. When his coon-hunting buddy passed away, he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his wife and in-laws. He loved visiting with his family and friends. Anytime someone visited his home, he’d follow them to their car and talk for another two hours. His greatest joy was his four grandchildren and great grandson. They were his reason. He is survived by his son, Tony Cook (Joanne); daughter Bobbie Hilliard (Mike); four grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer (Thad), Tiffany, and Matthew; one great-grandson, Aden; sister, Opal Butler; and a special friend Rosie Wilder. Pallbearers will be David Tucker, Steven Tucker, Steve Outlaw, Lester Sullivan, Mike Hilliard, and Matthew Brewer. Visitation will be 10:30 to 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 30 at Ashby Funeral Home with services beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Carthage. Bro. Elwin Ollar will be officiating. SERVICES Funeral Service Friday, December 30, 2022 12:00 PM Ashby Funeral Home 108 W.
