Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 130 Independence Boulevard, Aiken South Carolina 29803. Reverend Dr. C. A. Scott, Pastor, Officiating, Reverend Joseph H. Cook, Sr., Eulogist. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Jackson-Brooks Chapel, 606 Main Street North, New Ellenington, South Carolina 29809. Lawrence affectionally known as “Neat” was born on December 23, 1937, in Aiken, South Carolina to the late Lewis “Buster” and Pearlie Mae Drayton. She departed her life on Wednesday October 05, 2022. Mildred attended the Public School of Aiken County and was an alumnus of Martha Schofield, Class of 1968. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Willie James “Sam” Lawrence on September 17, 1955, and to this union two sons were born, Clyde, and Willie, Jr. Mildred was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a leader of the 4H Girls Club, and the Christian Believers Prayer Group. Mildred was proceeded in death by: her husband, Willie “Sam” Lawrence; a son, Clyde D. Lawrence; a grandson, Darryl M. Lawrence; a sister, Doris Ray; two brothers, Bernard Drayton, and Terry Drayton. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one son, Willie M (Terrie) Lawrence, six grandchildren, Monique Backmon, Shannon (Tommy) Crawford, Isaiah Lawrence, Damien Jackson, Charles Tanksley, and Willie Butler Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Raekwon Green, Jakeria Moody, Alexa Backmon, Lacey Backmon, and Tiana Lawrence, Thomas (Munchii) Crawford Jr. and Kaleb Beach; One god-daughter: Anissia Patterson-Jones; Four sisters, Mozella Drayton, Mary Mobley, Shirley (Joseph) Patterson, Ethel L. Griffin; One brother: Alvin (Gladys) Drayton; Sister-in-laws: Vera Drayton, Thelma (Bennie) Hubert, Mary (Rudell) Cummings, Ann Lawrence; Four brothers-in-law, John C (Annie) Lawrence, Lorenzo (Barbara) Lawrence; special friends, Jackie Spann Lawrence, Jonnie Pollock, Dr. Jerry (Sherry) Sheets and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
