Michael Edward Dahlem, age 77 of Altus, Arkansas passed away Wednesday October 12, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a Vietnam Veteran, an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member of the Altus order of Knights of Columbus, and a life member of DAV and the VFW. Michael loved watching the Razorbacks, playing bingo, and working around the farm on his tractor. Above all he loved Saturday evenings when all the families gathered at his house for supper to visit, play games, and watching his great grandchildren play. Michael was born in Hartman, Arkansas on June 26, 1945 to Rupert Joseph and Annie Rofkahr Dahlem. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Catherine Wiggins. Michael is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bernadine Dahlem; two sons, James M. Dahlem and wife Gail and Stephen Dahlem all of Altus; two daughters, Tina Yother and husband Clinton and Roseann Hula and husband Heath all of Altus; six grandchildren, Tyler Dahlem and wife Kylie, Brianna Dahlem Watkins and husband Jacob, Erica Yother, Caleb Yother, Kailey and Brinley Hula; four great grandchildren, Cooper Wood, Kaysen and Saylor Dahlem, and Austin Watkins; and one sister, Bertha Wages of Clarksville, Arkansas. Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. followed by Rosary Service from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday October 16, 2022 at Shaffer Funeral Home 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Monday October 17, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 5118 St. Mary’s Lane Altus with Reverend Pius Ajunwa Iwa and Deacon Brian Lachowsky officiating, with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jim Rofkahr, David Tencleve, Albert Leding, Tom Timmerman, Ted Skolarski, Noel Sagullo, Tyler Dahlem, and Jacob Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.
