Obituary of Mary Alice Young Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Mary Young, 96, of Coleman passed away Monday, November 28, 2022. She was born in Merkel, Texas on April 11, 1926, to Henry W. and Cora Lee Hester and was the youngest of five children. Mary met Billy Carter Young and they married November 27, 1946. She was a homemaker, raising two daughters. She was an active member of Lytle South Baptist Church, before moving to Coleman. Before marriage, she worked at the Taylor County Clerk’s office for 10 years. After 21 years of being a homemaker, she entered the workforce again working for the Wagstaff Lawfirm and Westwood Energy, retiring in 1986. She and her husband traveled throughout the United States and Canada in their motorhome. They spent their summers in Fun Valley, Colorado each year. The group of friends they made there became a second family to them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Carter Young, and a grandson, Tyler Golson. Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Lee Ann Robinson and husband Ted, and Suzanne Golson and husband Tim; three grandchildren: Brett Robinson and wife Brittany of Aiken, South Carolina, Amanda Robinson and husband Jeff Ochoa of Austin, and Lauren Brown and husband Cody of San Angelo; and four great-grandchildren, Riley and Libby Robinson and Emmett and Elliott Brown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a private burial service at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 717 North 10th St., Abilene, Texas 79601.
