Mary Ossie (Humphrey) Brooks, 83, of Covington, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022. She was born in Mansfield, GA to the late Corn Humphrey and Essie (Durden) Stanford. Mary was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Carl Bailey, and her son, Dexter Benton. She was a devoted wife, mother, Ma, sister, aunt and friend to many. Mary never met a stranger. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking, and gardening. Mary was a dedicated member of Springfield Baptist Church in Newborn where she liked to sing in the church choir. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all her had the good fortune to know her. Her memories will live on in those she left behind. Her survivors include her children, Dorothy and Anthony Strong of Covington, Essise Atterberry of East Point and James Benton of Covington; brothers Tommy and Yvonne Adams, Phillip Adams and Charlie Stanford, all of Covington; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mary will be held Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2pm at Springfield Baptist Church, 4606 Springfield Dr., Newborn, GA 30056 with Rev. Charlie Stanford officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 5pm – 7pm at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, 11405 Brown Bridge Rd, Covington 30016. Guests may send condolences to
