Mary Louise Krenik, age 86 died Thursday, December 15, 2022. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marysburg. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church Friday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mary was born November 19, 1936, to Ronald and Grace (Stangler) McCarthy in Mankato. Mary was raised on a farm outside Madison Lake. She met John Krenik on the dance floor at Hardegger’s on Lake Jefferson. They dated while he was away in the service, and then married in September 1959 at Marysburg church. After they married, they moved to North Mankato, where they raised 3 boys. Mary worked at St. Joseph’s hospital in Mankato as a pediatric nurse for 40 years. She loved to cook, travel, and play cards, and celebrated her Irish heritage. Her greatest love was her grandchildren, and spending time with family. She held a strong Catholic faith and prayed the rosary daily. Mary was the matriarch of the family and was the instigator of fun no matter what the occasion. Mary is survived by her three sons, James (Laura), Mark (Shana), Patrick (Cari); grandchildren, Emily, Shannon, Claire, Joseph, Mylie, Wyatt; two brothers, James (Diane) McCarthy and Michael McCarthy; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 2019, and brother Ronald “Butch” McCarthy.
