Obituary Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Mary Katherine (Scheu) Capps gained her angel wings on December 14, 2022 at Deaconess Hospital (Midtown) in Evansville, Indiana. Mary was 81-years old. Mary’s life seemed too short by many, but those who were blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that she stayed here. Mary was a devoted Catholic woman, dedicating her life to the Lord. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where she was surrounded by and worshiped with many friends. Mary was an Army veteran who was proud to have served her country, which she loved dearly. On any given day, Mary could be found wearing a cross around her neck and red, white, and blue apparel. Not a day went by where Mary didn’t talk about how much her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family meant to her– her family was arguably her most important achievement in life. Mary is survived by her siblings, Don Scheu and Linda (Scheu) Scott; her children, Carrie (Capps) Madsen and Timothy Capps; daughter-in-law, Vicky Capps; grandchildren, Joseph Madsen, Megan Madsen, Kaynin Capps and Kamron Capps; and great-grandchildren, Marshall Madsen and Charlotte Madsen, as well as countless friends and her loving dog, Yoda. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Albert, Sr. and Thelma (Lawrence) Scheu; her siblings, Kenneth Scheu and Albert Scheu, Jr.; her son, Melvin Edward Capps; and her great-grandson, Myles Madsen. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Rd., Evansville, IN 47710 with Father Jason Gries celebrating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 10:00 am until Mass time on Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
