Mary’s Obituary Schoharie (Schoharie County): Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Kennedy 92, of Rickard Hill Road Schoharie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10th at her home under the loving care of her family. Betty was born February 8, 1930 in Troy, NY, a daughter of Frank L. and Margaret (Hanley) Zeh. She attended the former Cobleskill High School and also Schoharie High School where she graduated in 1947. Betty attended the Mildred Elley Business School and later worked for the State Bank of Albany in Bookkeeping. She later retired from Schoharie School Cafeteria where she cooked and worked the counter for 21 years. Mrs. Kennedy was also very devoted to her family and making a home for her husband Elijah and her 5 children. She was a communicant of the former St. Joseph’s R.C. Church and its Altar Rosary Society. Betty later joined the parish at Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church in Middleburgh. She was also a member of the Pinochle Club and volunteered at the Cobleskill Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed travelling, reading, knitting, and spending time with her very large family. Betty married Elijah “Junior” Kennedy on August 28, 1948. He predeceased her on September 30, 2016. Survivors include; her children, Thomas (Polly Mossey) Kennedy of Clifton Park, Frederick (Roberta) Kennedy of Schoharie, Brian (Linda) Kennedy of Schoharie, Mary (David) Kruger of Schoharie, and Kevin (Bonnie) Kennedy of Selkirk, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, her daughter-in-law, Susan Kennedy of Schoharie and her sister, Jean Ann Stevenson of Virginia Beach, VA. She was predeceased by her sister Shirley Brisley in 2008 and a grandson, Peter Martin Kennedy in 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13th at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, 111 Wells Ave., Middleburgh, NY followed by interment in the Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Betty to: Helios Care, 297 River St. Service Rd., Oneonta, NY 13820, OR to Scho-Wright Ambulance Service, PO Box 325, Schoharie, NY 12157, OR to Our Lady of the Valley R.C.
