Obituary Please share a memory of Lillie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Mrs. Lillie Richmond Johnson, 94, widow of Harry C. Johnson, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022. Born in the Boone Section of Rockcastle County, she was the daughter of the late William Anderson Richmond and Vida Combs Richmond. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1948 and worked at Boone Tavern as well as the Berea College Bakery and Cannery and Churchill Weavers. She also attended Eastern Kentucky University as well as the University of Kentucky. Lillie retired from the former Westinghouse Electric Corporation after 34 years of service. She was the fifth employee hired when the new plant opened. She grew up in The Fairview Baptist Church in Rockcastle County and joined The First Baptist Church in Richmond in 1952. There she served as a Sunday School, nursery worker and was active in various Ladies Sunday School Classes and the WMU. She was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1995. After her retirement, she joined AARP, the Women Together for Christ, organized tours for with Martin Tours, and became a member of The Richmond Woman’s Club. She received numerous awards for the annual scrapbook she prepared for the Woman’s Club. In addition she enjoyed collecting socks to deliver to the Thompson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. She is survived by her daughters: Janet Wells (John Jr.) and Sheryl Richardson; three grandchildren: Sabrina James (Damian), Joshua Hart (Teresa) and Jenna Wells; five great-grandchildren: Joshua Lee Lunsford, Jason Mikea Lunsford, Emily Melissa McCoy, Olivia Grace Hart and Madeline Rose Hart; her siblings include: Herbert Richmond (Mattie), Ben Richmond (Elvie) and Lola Roberts as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her husband, her parents and her in-laws, she was preceded in death by sisters Ellen Freeman (Paul) and Lena Cope (Ernest); brothers: Robert Richmond (Phyllis), Gordon Richmond, Raymond Richmond and Herman Richmond; her son-in-law: Michael Richardson and nephews: Don Cope and Roy Lee Roberts. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Fort and Rev. Stephen Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
