Larry Douglas “Doug” Buchanan, age 73, of Wrightsville, died peacefully at the York Hospital on Monday, December 19, 2022. Born on April 7, 1949, in Spruce Pine, NC, he was the son of the late Avery and Mage (Peterson) Buchanan. Doug retired from Reese’s Candy Company in Hershey, where he worked as a supervisor for many years. He was a US Army Veteran. Doug loved to watch sports, especially Sixers basketball, Penn State and Eagles football, and North Carolina Tar Heels basketball. He enjoyed coin collecting and going out fishing. Above all, he loved to spend time with his beloved granddaughter Bailey Rose Buchanan. In addition to his granddaughter, Doug is survived by his son and best friend Samuel D. Buchanan of Wrightsville and his daughter Shelley L. Palevo of Elizabethtown. He was also close with his granddaughter’s mother Tawny Reynolds. In honor of Doug’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services at this time. Contributions in Doug’s memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.shrinerschildrens.org. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 700 Hellam Street, Wrightsville, PA 17368.
