She attended school in Bartlett until the family moved to Temple. There she graduated from Temple High School and attended Temple Junior College (TJC). Lamerle met A.W. Zajicek, Jr. in 1948, when she was a senior at Temple High and he a freshman at TJC. Although A.W. would later say that Lamerle was “out of his league” he asked her on a date and to his surprise she said yes. The rest, as they say, is history. The art student and the soon-to-be accountant were married August 27, 1950. They spent most of their lives in Buckholts, TX, where Lamerle was a homemaker and active citizen within the community. A woman of strong Christian faith, she attended Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts, avidly supported and participated in Lions’ Club, worked closely with the Buckholts Betterment Association, and did whatever she could to selflessly serve the community and people she loved. An accomplished and passionate artist, Lamerle taught oil painting for over forty years, achieving a legacy of truly leaving the world a more beautiful place. Lamerle was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Arah Ayers Walker of Temple, TX; her brother, Pellon Reed Walker, of Longmont, CO, her husband Albert William Zajicek Jr.; and her oldest son, David Zajicek, of Waco, TX. Lamerle is survived by her daughter, Janisue and husband Craig Connolly of Temple TX; her son, Scott Zajicek and wife Lisa of Lubbock, TX; her daughter, Jennifer and husband Sam Mascorro of Lucas, TX; 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron, TX on September 30, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held the following day, October 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
