A star was born on December 1, 1986 in New Orleans, LA to the late great Gail Ann (Hampton) Wilkerson and Willie Wilson. Lachanity Breon Hampton aka Reenie as we called her, had a bubbly personality and was a burst of energy. Her charisma led to her being voted “most popular” and crowned homecoming queen at Joseph S. Clark High School in which she graduated in 2004. Her charm and comical personality was consistent through her adult years which is why she left her mark on everyone she encountered. Reenie was the life of any party; outgoing, sometimes loud, a definite straight shooter, but also a motivational, positive, sweet, sensitive and compassionate person. She was funny and would oftentimes make you laugh until you cried. Lachanity was the youngest of 3 children and was loved wholeheartedly by her siblings and entire family. She filled a void left by her mom by displaying a whimsical resemblance to her mother’s personality. Her greatest and most memorable accomplishment was being a mom to Keon. When Keon was born she went into true momma bear mode ensuring his every need was fulfilled and their future was secure. She enjoyed seeing her lively personality in her son (Gail lives on). They shared a common love language of food. Reenie expressed her love daily for Keon, they were so close he would still get in her bed to sleep a few times a week. Reenie was a dedicated mother, sister, aunt, friend and employee. She leaves to cherish her memory and spirit, son, Keon Robinson Jr.; sister, Shawntrise Williams-Sims; brother, Leonidas Hampton (O’Dwyer “Co”); brother, Al Sims; half brother, Rico Wilson. Nieces & Nephews: Tallè Kesley, Leyonce and Aaliyah Davis, Allen and Sydney Sims, Leonidas (Jr) and Ali Hampton, and Lacie Doucet. Aunts and Uncles: Currise Taylor, Ann Carter, Gladys Hampton, Curry Williams Jr. and Clyde Carter. Granddaughter of the late Madeline Williams Ellois, Augusta Carter, Rosetta McKnight-Williams and Curry Williams Sr. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 3034 Andover Street on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue.
