Julia Peters Conroy, 81 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick. Born Tuesday, March 18, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, Julia also known as Judy was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Peters. Judy was raised in the Gerritsen Beach section of Brooklyn, and was a graduate of Catherine Mc Auley High School. Judy would meet Thomas Conroy and the couple would marry in 1962. They would start a family of their own, living in that same neighborhood that Judy grew up in. She would remain there until 2003, when she moved with her family to Old Bridge. Judy worked for a number of years as a medical transcriber, but her favorite job was being a lunch mom at McDivitt Elementary school here in Old Bridge. The children she supervised every day loved her, and she loved being with them. In her spare time Judy enjoyed playing Bingo, and crocheting. She also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. What Judy loved the most was being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring woman who will be missed by all those that love her. Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas, by her sisters Margaret and Patricia and her brother James. Judy is survived by her loving daughters, Patricia Degenhardt and her husband Michael, and Kathleen Abbott and her husband Joseph, by her caring sister Rose Correll, by her cherished grandchildren, Vincent Muccio, Matthew Degenhardt, Kayla Degenhardt, Megan Degenhardt, and Daniel Degenhardt, and by her adoring great grandchildren, Olivia, Tristan, Madelyn, and Riley. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A Funeral service will be at 9:30 AM on Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle located at 1 St Thomas Plaza Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY.
