Joan Yvonne Barnhart Epley, 85, of York, died on May 29, 2022. She was the wife of Samuel Diehl Epley of York. Born on July 5, 1936 in York, she was the daughter of the late Wilson A. Barnhart and the late Mary E. (Stockman) Barnhart Rawlinson. Joan was a 1954 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. She was a machine operator for General Defense. Joan was a lover of all animals big and small and her church Bethlehem U.M.C. Dallastown, where she was a member. She loved her family gatherings, her Penn State Football and Baltimore Orioles. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Thomas Wilson Epley and his wife Nancy of Virginia Beach, VA, Jane Elizabeth Rosenblum and her husband Charles of Hillsboro, NJ, Kelly Marie Port and her husband Gerald of Waterford; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a sister Sandra K. Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York. A visitation will be held prior from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA of York County, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N., York, PA 17406 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
