Joan F. Evers, age 85, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Stillwater Senior Living. She was born August 11, 1936, in Granite City, Illinois, the daughter of the late Edward & Cleo (Kinder) Foehrkalb. She married Kenneth L. Evers on May 29, 1971, in Edwardsville, Illinois who preceded her in death on September 26, 1996. Joan is survived by her Son, Scott Evers and wife Janna Evers of Edwardsville; Son Kenny Evers and wife Cheri Evers of Garfield, AR; three Grandchildren, Matt Evers and wife Kara Evers of Glen Carbon, Illinois; Kevin Evers of Firestone, Colorado; and Emily Whitt and husband Josh Whitt of Bethalto, Illinois. She was blessed with four Great Grandchildren, Kenlee and Connor Evers of Glen Carbon; Dreamer and Journey Whitt of Godfrey. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a kind heart and was always willing to help others. She worked in her parents’ stores in downtown Edwardsville “Foehrkalb Printers” and “Foehrkalb’s Gift Shop” after graduating from the University of Southern California. She then worked for 40 years at Florists’ Mutual in several positions and Retired as a Vice-President of Outside Sales. Due to her parents love of Edwardsville History and of the Wildey Theater; she became very active with the “Friends of the Wildey” and with the renovation of the Wildey Theater. She enjoyed being the Historian of the Wildey Theater by giving Tours, speaking to several organizations and volunteering many hours at the Wildey Theater. She was active in the Madison County Museum Friends Group and in the Friends of Lovejoy Library Group. She spent over 40 years of her life (on Sundays) as a Church Organist and played each week for the Edwardsville Rotary Club that she was a member of. She will be cremated according to her wishes and a Private Family celebration of life will be held.
