Obituary JESUS I. LIZARAZO Jesus I. Lizarazo passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at his home in Potomac, MD. Born June 22, 1943 in Bogotáa, Colombia to the late Jose Ignacio and Ana Leonore Lizarazo. My father came here when he turned 18, because he believed in the American Dream, which he achieved many times over. During his life, his infectious positive attitude and willingness to support others in striving to do their best allowed many others to accomplish the American Dream, too. He did not care about someone’s religion, race, ual orientation or gender, he just wanted people to do the best that they can do in life, as he had done is his. He particularly liked to support the Latino community, because of the prejudice he had faced along the way. He bought his first car when he was 21, a 1964 red impala, which he used to make a good impression on Alicia and her high school friends. Hooked, he became an avid car collector who restored, showed and enjoyed more than 100 antique cars throughout his life. In between, he worked as a serial entrepreneur including a cleaning company, radio station, real estate and day trader. If someone said he could not do it, Jesus was set on proving them wrong. Jesus lived a large, grand life. When four year old Jasmin asked for a pony, she soon had no fewer than five horses. This was also a parenting strategy to keep her too busy to get in trouble, while she learned responsibility. Similarly, when the family wanted a boat, one boat multiplied to five. Another parenting strategy. Fortunately, he only kept one dog at a time. Similarly, Jesus loved to take care of his wife, with gifts of custom made clothing, vacations that included his mother-in-law, and a beautiful home. Together, they loved to dance. On cruise ships, they frequently won dance competitions and always attracted an audience. Some of the happiest family memories are when he turned on the radio and the three would dance in the living room, together. Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Alicia L. Lizarazo and his devoted daughter, Jasmin Lizarazo (wife, Shawn). He is also survived by two of his 6 siblings, Ruth Lizarazo of Florida, and Hernán Lizarazo of Bogotá . Family will receive friends at their home 9205 Marseille Drive, Potomac, MD on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 2:30 to 6 pm. A short rite of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions also be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Please bring a memory to share here, on Facebook, on a card or to speak. Read more
