“Let your soul shine through. I know my own self and my own life.” – Jeremy Deborah Chase Jeremy Deborah Chase (née Deborah Marie Chiasson), age 55, originally of Maynard, MA and a resident of Woburn, MA, died unexpectedly on December 17, 2022, following a period of declining health. The eldest of five children to parents Robert Chiasson of Waltham, MA, and Sharon Chiasson of Maynard, MA, Jeremy was born on April 6, 1967, at Waltham Hospital in Waltham, MA. As a young girl growing up in Waltham, Jeremy was the neighborhood’s “circus ringmaster,” inventing games, talent shows, and adventures for her sisters and the pack of close-knit cousins that lived nearby. When she was ten years old, Jeremy moved with her family to Maynard, MA, where she attended Fowler Junior High School and then Maynard High School. She eventually finished her schooling in Novato, CA, graduating early with honors in 1984, before returning to the Boston area. Jeremy later studied to be a medical administrative assistant and graduated in 2005 at the top of her class from Brookline’s Bryman School. As a multi-faceted artist, Jeremy was passionate about and deeply committed to studying the performing arts as a young adult. She sang with local Boston band Loose Ties in the late 80’s and created ceramics under the tutelage of local artist Simona Alexandrov. She proved herself gifted in writing, pottery, painting, drawing, crafting, and much more. She was well known for her loyal friendship, thoughtful correspondence, and for marking holidays, life events and memories with considerate gifts of cherished personalized poetry and art. Jeremy is survived by her mother Sharon Chiasson and father Robert Chiasson (Margaret Shropshire), as well as her sisters – Danielle Dalton (Thomas Dalton) of Hudson, MA, Suzanne Baciocco (Grant Baciocco) of Toluca Lake, CA, and Nicole Goldman (Adam Goldman) of Burbank, CA, one brother Matthew Chiasson (Melissa Chiasson) of Maynard, MA, her many cherished nieces and nephews (Alyssa Dalton, Taylor Dalton, Jared Dalton, Alec Dalton, Jonah Goldman, Lillian Goldman, Halle Chiasson, and Landon Chiasson), and her beloved aunts and cousins. She is predeceased by her grandparents John and Catherine MacAskill of Millville, Nova Scotia, and Arthur and Marie Rose Chiasson of Waltham, MA, as well as aunts and uncles Ruth McPhee, Joan MacLeod, Peter MacAskill, Arthur Chiasson, John Chiasson, Ronald Chiasson, Francis Chiasson, Gerard Chiasson, Anne Chiasson, and cousins John Chiasson and John MacLeod. Jeremy faced her decades-long battle with mental illness with resilience and hope, keeping close ties with her family while valuing her independence, and participating in and supporting the life-affirming community at The Edinburg Center. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations be made in Jeremy Deborah’s name to The Edinburg Center (205 Burlington Road, Bedford, MA 01730). www.edinburgcenter.org/donate/ Family and friends will honor and remember Jeremy’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, January 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Friday morning at 11 a.m. when her funeral service will be held.
