Janice Louise Belk (nee Houtz), age 88 of Media, PA, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022. Born in Ridley Park and raised in Rutledge, she was the daughter of the late Earl W. and Margaret L. (nee Miller) Houtz. She was a graduate of Swarthmore High School and received her Associates Degree from the Keystone Secretarial School. Janice was very active in her communities of Media and Ridley Township, where she was a member of the Ridley Township Business Association, the Media Woman’s Club, Brookhaven Bowling League and the Media-Springfield Hospital Auxillary. She was also a longtime member of Middletown Presbyterian Church; and the Friendship Chapter No. 551, Order of the Easter Star, for over 50 years. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was also a loving and supportive wife to her husband and their business, Belk’s Marine in Ridley Township. Along with her parents, Janice was predeceased by beloved husband of 68 years, Thomas W. Belk, Jr. who passed in May 2022; her daughter, Catherine L. Belk; granddaughter Christina L. Booth; great- granddaughter, Gianna Morgan; and brothers, William, Kenneth, Richard, Donald, Jack, David, Aldin, James, Charles, Robert and Harold Houtz. Janice is survived by her children, Thomas (Jeanne) W. Belk III, Barbara May (Thomas) Cekine and Judith Ann Belk; grandchildren; William A. Booth, III, Thomas A. Belk IV, Leah Kreston (nee Belk); great- grandchildren, Isabella Morgan, Anthony Morgan, Joseph Morgan, Nolan Kreston and Thomas “Pen” Belk V. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Services Monday, November 7, 2022 at the Middletown Presbyterian Church 273 S. Old Middletown Rd, Media, PA 19063. Viewing in Church 10-10:45am Eastern Star Service at 10:45am Funeral Service at 11am Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the PA Masonic Youth Foundation 1 Masonic Dr. Elizabethtown, PA 17022 would be appreciated. Arrangements are by the Kevin Lyons Funeral Home.
