The family of Jan Rudert is deeply saddened to share the news of her death. A teacher, Jan cared for young children her entire career. She spent 29 years as a staff member at Webster Child Care Center in Webster Groves, Mo. It was her mission to provide loving care to children, and she did so with grace and devotion. To the parents whose children she taught, it was one of her greatest accomplishments and a source of joy to provide loving, nurturing care for your children. “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.” Jan was an avid reader and could seldom turn down the opportunity to get a new book. A fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, in good times and bad, she seldom missed a Winter Warm-Up, and took pride in indoctrinating her niece Blair from a young age to follow in those footsteps. In honor and memory of her father, she never missed rooting for Navy in the annual Army-Navy game. She loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, remembering her mother and grandmother Rudert’s roots. She delighted in taking Blair to Cardinal baseball games and movies. They shared loving time together in small moments, too, like driving around looking at Christmas lights, and drinking coffee together while Blair was on maternity leave. A friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand, and there for life’s big and quiet moments. She could be counted on for a hug, a shoulder to cry on, or a funny meme to brighten your day. Jan is survived by a brother, Barry, and sister-in-law, Rose; beloved niece, Blair (Nic York); most cherished great-nephew, Owen; and many friends. They will miss their dear friend, sister, aunt G, and great aunt GG very much. Preceded in death by her most adored parents Keith J. and Lois V. (nee Stoner) Rudert; Uncle Owen C. Rudert; and grandmother (Mamo) Hazel R. Rudert; Jan joins them, and the other beloved saints who went before, in the Church Triumphant. Her survivors take comfort in knowing that Jan believed she would join them again when it was time to take her final rest. In lieu of flowers, Jan’s family encourages you to make a donation to the scholarship fund at Webster Child Care Center in her name. Donations may be made via their website websterchildcare.com (scroll down to “Make a Donation”), or mail a check to Webster Child Care Center, attn.: Lisa, 624 Lohmann Forest Lane, Webster Groves, MO 63119. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, January 5 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 6800 Washington Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63130. Memorial Service at 4:00 pm, followed by a time to greet the family at 5:00pm.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Janet A Rudert February 16 1957 December 20 2022.
