View Tribute Book James Walter Haugom, 76, of Palmer, Alaska passed away November 22, 2022 in Anchorage Alaska. A service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Palmer at 1:00pm November 29th. Jim was born September 26, 1946 to Alvin and Maxine Haugom in Watertown, South Dakota. He married Patricia Conley on April 12, 1969 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They moved to Alaska in 1971 where he worked for the Frontiersman and then later was employed by Matanuska Telephone Association. He retired from MTA in 2006. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, wood working, being a grandpa, and spending time with his family. “Jim was known as our MacGyver, won multiple City of Palmer beautification awards for his yard, could say “whatever like that” five times in one sentence, was the very best micromanager, never met a stranger, and loved being on any boat.” He is survived by his wife Patty of 53 years. Children Charlie, Becky Fish (Brian and grandchildren Darren, Kiley and Dillon), Chris (Randee and grandchildren Cameron (Anna), Hannah and Aimmee and great grandson Connor), Greg (Brina and grandchildren Hatcher and Bodey), Shawn (Charleen and grandchildren Kayzon and Maxton), and Katie Aro (Blake and grandchildren Reese and Chloe). He was proceeded in death by his parents Alvin and Maxine Haugom. The family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Kids Kupboard in lieu of flowers.
