James’ Obituary On September 6th, 2022, James Paul Koch of Towson passed away. James was born on July 2nd, 1949, in Mamaroneck New York to Richard and Geraldine Koch. In 1967, he graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover Massachusetts and went on to study psychology at Johns Hopkins University. After a few years of professional experience, James went on to attend the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. He graduated with honors in 1979 and was an active member of the Maryland Law Review. In 1983, James decided to pursue an independent path and opened his own law practice where he would spend the next thirty-nine years devoted to serving his clients and becoming a respected member of the legal community. Over the years, the focus of his law practice evolved and included several disciplines including medical malpractice, commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and insurance disputes. He cared deeply for every client and always worked his hardest to represent their best interests. James had many interests including golfing, reading, and feeding the local birds. He also enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles, talking about current events, and working in his garden. James was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Geraldine, and his brother Richard. He is survived by his wife Barbara, sister Elisabeth (Betty), children Erin, Katherine (Katie) and James Jr. (Jimmy), and his son-in-law Anthony Lora. There will be a celebration of James’ life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to The Legacy Foundation. Read More
