View Tribute Book Funeral services for James “Pops” Linaburg, 82 year old Terry, Montana resident who passed away Sunday at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo, Wyoming, will be held Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Prairie County Cemetery with military graveside committal service to immediately follow the funeral. Donation in Jim’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home at 300 Frontage Road in Terry, Montana 59349. Online condolences may be made at www.stevensonandsons.com James Otho Linaburg was born on June 26, 1940 in Alliance, Ohio to George and Addie Linaburg. He grew up and went to school in Alliance and graduated from Alliance High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1963 and served State side at Fort Hamilton in New York State until 1969 when he received an honorable discharge. After the military he returned and made his home in Kaycee, Wyoming where he worked as a cowboy for the Irrigary Ranch and later for the Kennedy Ranch in Arvada. He worked out of Lodge Grass, Montana and in various towns in Eastern Montana. He was married in 1982 to Barbara Waits and they made their home on several ranches. He ended his career working for the Eaton Ranch near Lindsay, Montana and made their home in Terry, Montana. Barbara passed away in November of 2010 and Jim continued living in Terry until 2021 when he moved to Buffalo, Wyoming to be near family. Jim was very committed to the traditional Catholic Church and spent many hours in prayer and devotion every day. His passion was being outside and being a cowboy. He was an accomplished bridle maker and enjoyed making wooden clocks and Rosaries for friends and family. He is survived by two daughters, Diana Apple and her husband Robert of Buffalo, Wyoming and Melissa Poulos and her husband Michael of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one sister Nancy Sylvester of Alliance, Ohio; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother and seven sisters. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of James, please visit our floral store.
