Obituary Helen Dorothy Hellmuth born on March 23, 1928 passed peacefully on November 23, 2022. Helen was the only child of George and Ethel Muschlitz and was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. She attended and graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington, D.C. and attended two years at Maryland University. Helen met the love of her life, Charles T. Hellmuth, while in High School and they married in 1949. They spent the first year of their marriage in South Bend, Indiana as Charles finished his degree at Notre Dame. Then they spent a year in Fort Wayne, Indiana where Charles began his insurance career with Lincoln National. Afterward, they moved back to the Maryland area where Charles began his insurance profession and they raised their family. Helen and Charles had four children, Charles T. Hellmuth, Jr. of North Potomac, MD, Patricia A. Hellmuth of Chevy Chase, MD, Stephen Hellmuth of Short Hills, NJ, and James R. Hellmuth of Delray Beach, FL. Helen was past President of the Junior Women’s Club of Chevy Chase and the Chevy Chase Women’s Republican Club. And, she was on the Women’s Board for the American Heart Association of the Greater Washington Area. She was also a member of Congressional Country Club and Columbia Country Club in Maryland, and John’s Island Country Club in Vero Beach, FL. Helen was an avid horseback rider and started riding at the young age of six with her Uncle Gardner Hallman, a renowned Hunter Equitation Judge. Helen’s equestrian expertise earned her colors from the Potomac Hunt Club of Potomac, Maryland and the Warrenton Hunt Club and the Old Dominion Hunt Club of Virginia. Helen was an exceptional mother of four children, a wonderful grandmother to nine grandchildren, and lovely great grandmother to seven great grandchildren.
