Gerald “Jerry” Lynn Hayes, 77, of Hampton Twp., our funny, honest, fun-loving, and compassionate dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother and loyal friend passed away on the morning of Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region. Jerry was born on November 24, 1944 to the late Gerald and Adaire (Hill) Hayes in Flint. He graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1962. After graduation, Jerry continued his education at Michigan State University, earning his Bachelor degree. He completed his college degree and was drafted into the United States Army, having courageously served in Korea during the Vietnam War. Jerry was decorated for his service with The National Defense Medal, a Marksmanship Badge and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Jerry met the beautiful Marjorie McInerney through online dating. They met, dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on November 25, 2011. Sadly, Marjorie passed away on October 5, 2015. Jerry was a dedicated and hard working man. His first and last jobs were at Kroger. In between those, Jerry had a strong reputation in sales and help many businesses get started. Jerry loved going golfing and hanging out drinking with his buddies. He and Marjorie had a beloved four-legged companion, Gucci. Jerry was always proud of his children and grandchildren. His loving spirit will in live on in the hearts of his family for many years to come. To carry on his legacy, Jerry leaves his children, Jason Hayes, Michael Hayes, Nikki Kelsheimer, and Chana (Mark) Guild; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves his sister, Janine Snyder; mother of his children, Sharon Langerman; best friend, Jerry Cann, along with many other friends. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Marjorie, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Lindsay Hayes. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge Center.
