Cooper, Jr. announce his passing on November 19, 2022 at the age of 77. He will be remembered by his wife of 48 years, Karen; his two children: George W. Cooper III (Trey) and Kimberly Brooke Morris; grandchildren: Avery Sterling Bray, Jaxson Ernest Cooper and Reid Benson Cooper. He was very much looking forward to welcoming his 4th grandchild this March. He leaves behind two brothers, Bobby Cooper and Gene Cooper, along with numerous relatives and friends. Billy was predeceased by his parents George W. Cooper, Sr. and Amy Cooper and his brother Jerry Cooper. We take comfort in knowing that they have all now been reunited. Growing up, Billy loved the outdoors, was an expert archer and marksman, and a proud Eagle Scout with over 43 merit badges. A graduate of Christopher Newport College, Billy taught archery at the College and went on to serve his Country in the Airforce, training military dogs. He continued his passion for dogs after the Air Force, showing and breeding multiple Grand Champion Dobermans and Miniature Pinschers. His retired Grand Champion Lizzy was by his side until the very end. Billy retired from State Farm Insurance after 43 years. He had grown a very successful agency over the years, and he did so despite always putting his family and children first. He never missed a soccer game for either child all the way up through their Collegiate years. He loved to travel and especially loved his visits to Italy, Greece and Portugal. Billy had beaten imminent death in 2002 with a successful kidney transplant from his son Trey. Over the last few years, Billy fought a valiant and courageous fight with Frontotemporal Dementia. His wife Karen was by his side in this battle every day. While the dementia could wear him down both physically and mentally, he would always light up when his grandchildren entered the room. In October, he was able to make the trip to Mexico to see his daughter Brooke get married. His legacy will live on for years through his children and grandchildren, he is without pain now and with the Lord. A graveside service will be held 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, December 6, at Olive Branch Cemetery, 2 Cpl. J. M. Williams Ave., Portsmouth. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
