Obituary Gene Frederick Guffey born June 19, 1945 in Albany, Kentucky passed away Sunday evening at his home in London KY November 6, 2022 being 77 years of age. Husband of Mary Lee Guffey for 57 years, Father of Fred, Grandfather of Nicholas. Survived by brothers Jackie, James (wife Saundra), Bill (Julie) and Ronnie, several nieces and nephews, and his Church family. Preceded in death by his parents. His work with the Kentucky State Government took him all over this beautiful state, meeting all kinds of people. Gene worked several years as a KY State Trooper and giving driver’s test at Bowman Field Office, east Louisville, KY. He also worked several years in the Kentucky State Revenue Department. Retiring early because of serious health issues. Gene loved to read, amassing an extensive book collection. He spent many hours reading and researching the Bible and its teachings. Though his various trials kept him close to home, he never stopped seeking that knowledge. Gene will be very much missed. During Gene & Mary’s healthy years, they were very serving couple, always going above and beyond the call of duty. A memorial service for Gene Frederick Guffey will be conducted by the family 11 AM Wednesday, November 16 at the United Church of God, 1088 Taylor Bridge Road, London, Kentucky 40744 with Jay Ledbetter and Ray Cowan officiating.
