Cook, 85, passed away peacefully December 16, 2022 in a Sarasota, FL hospital, after a brief illness, surrounded by his 3 sons. Galen was born March 20, 1937 in Troy, Maine, the son of Raymond and Estella Cook. Galen retired in 1989 following a 25-year career with the Maine Forest Service. He was an avid outdoorsman and his hunting exploits are truly legendary. He is survived by 5 children, Paul Cook and his wife Laurie of Hermon, Cheryl Sweeney and her husband Phil of Hill, NH., Terri Richards and her husband Dave of Dover-Foxcroft, Gary Cook of Loughman FL., Galen Tracy Cook and his wife Sandra of Loughman, FL. 3 Step-children, Pam Brochu and her husband Luke of Kenduskeag, Juanita Smith and her husband Doug of Norway, Dodi Mingo and her partner Charlene of Bingham, Along with several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend and life partner Freda Truman of Englewood, FL. and her children, Lee Truman, Vicky Bartlett, Becky LeClerk and Mark Truman. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Marie (Cook) Shibles and his wife Alfreda Cook. Funeral services and burial will be conducted in the spring at a date and time to be announced.
