On Friday, November 25, 2022, Freda M. Wallace answered her Savior’s call and crossed the finish line here on earth. Born on May 17, 1928, she was the last surviving child of William and Nettie (Bollinger) Thoman. Freda married her high school sweetheart, the late Millard L. Wallace at the Salvation Army in 1948, and together they shared 65 years of marriage. In addition to her devotion as a homemaker, Freda also worked for several years as a sewing machine operator at TIGHE Industries. Freda’s priorities in life were simple…God, family, and friends! She was active in church programs and activities and had a passion for Bible study and missionary ministries. As a husband-and-wife team, (Millard speaking and Freda playing the piano) they devoted Sunday afternoons to singing and sharing the Gospel with the residents and shut-ins at various rest homes in York. “Family” was high on Freda’s list and any gatherings that included her, were sure to be a memorable time filled with lots of laughter and reminiscing. Her kindness to those around her will not soon be forgotten. Family, friends, and neighbors were always delighted to be the recipients of her thoughtfulness in the form of sewing creations, baked goods, cards, and words of kindness. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Eastside Assembly of God, 3430 Eastern Boulevard, York, with Pastor Donald Belch officiating. Interment will follow in Canadochly Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In honor of Freda’s love of bright colored, flowery dresses, the family asks those attending to please wear colorful clothing. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Freda’s memory, to honor her love of missionary ministries, may be made to Eastside Assembly of God, 3430 Eastern Boulevard, York, PA 17402 (please write missions on the check memo).
