Frances Marie Nichols Borum May 7, 1927 – November 7, 2022 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Frances Borum, returned to her Heavenly home on November 7, 2022. Frances was born May 7, 1927, in Calumet City, Illinois to Marie M. Nichols and Frank Nichols. She is predeceased by her husband Marion (Moe), her parents, her sister Dorothy, and brother Frank. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the presence of her family. Frances was a long-standing member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where she and Moe were married in 1946. At the church, she served as a lay minister and was a devoted member of the “sewing circle”. She served as the Commander of the Women’s Auxiliary of the DAV Chapter 41. She Was a graduate of St. Joseph’s (now St. Paul’s) Catholic High School in Portsmouth and a star of their girls’ basketball team. Frances was a loving wife of 70 1/2 years to her husband, Moe, and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, John (Gay), Frank (Robyne), Rachel (Earl), and Craig (Jen). Frances is also survived by grandchildren, Earl, Josh, Lauren, John, and Alexis, as well as seven great grandchildren, a special niece, Betty Ann Covey and nephew Johnny James. Frances was a warm and generous woman, and a anchor for her family. The family wishes to thank the dedicated services of Chesapeake Home Health and Hospice for their kindness, compassion and spiritual support to our Mother and family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 34 Afton Parkway, Portsmouth, VA, followed by burial at Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, VA. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the Mass starting at 10 a.m. at the Church. A reception will by held in the parish center after the burial.
