Obituary of Florence Giuffre Mrs. Florence Giuffre, 87, of Fonda, New York, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. She was born on November 4, 1935 to Mr. William Coons and Mrs. Ruth Hettrick Coons. A lifelong area resident, and one of nine children, Florence grew up in Montgomery county and attended local schools. She was united in marriage to Mr. Philip Giuffre in May of 1976. They remained lovingly married until his passing on January 14, 1989. Florence was an active member of her community who loved to keep busy and make friends. She helped run her husband’s business Giuffre Brother’s Bus Co., and owned Rosette Ceramics. She was employed as the Office Manager of Saint Kateri’s Shrine and for over 50 years she served on the local Election Board. She was a lifetime member of the Moose and the Eastern Star Masonic Temple. Most recently Florence worked as the Town of Mohawk Deputy Clerk, she retired in 2020. She is survived by her daughters; Jacquelyn (Walter) Boyd of Fonda and Lori (Tom) Gray of Johnstown, two grandchildren; Philip (Lori) Schriner and Tommy Gray, great grandson Mason Schriner. She also leaves behind her brother James (Marion) Coons as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Phil, sisters; Joyce Dillenbeck, Helen Lyker, Marie Coons Almond, brothers; Donald, Robert, William and John Coons. Florence’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice for the care and comfort they provided in Florence’s final days. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday November 17, 2022 at 1:00PM at Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St, Fultonville, with the Reverend Thomas Flander Jr. officiating. Calling Hours will take place prior to the service from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Jackson and Betz Funeral Home. Following the service Florence will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda.
