Obituary God has laid him down to sleep and left us with his love to keep. When he awakes in heaven on high, Angels will be standing by to welcome him and show him the way where other dear ones happily stay. His earthly visit is now done, and he sleeps in peace. The hourglass, with its sands of time, has slowly but surely spilled its contents, and with the passing of the last sand, went the life of our loved one, Fletcher. This day has been coming ever since life began for him on November 17, 1951, in Coldwater, Mississippi, when his Heavenly Father entrusted him into the hands of his parents. He was the first child born to the late Percy Lee Lockett and Golden Johnson Lockett. He was trained and brought up in fear of the Lord, leading him to confess a hope in Christ at an early age at Greater Abbysinia Baptist Church under the late Rev. Juan D. Shipp. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. Fletcher was gainfully employed as an employee of the Defense Depot until its closure. He later was employed by Fleming Foods until he became disabled. He had a lot of fond memories that he wants his family to remember. Always hold on to the laughter that we shared, and remember that we will be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words to my family and friends. Until we meet again!! On December 20, 2021, the Angel of silence softly pulled the heavenly shades of night around him, and God called him home to be at his side. Left to celebrate memories of his life is his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Lockett; two daughters, Tamika Stanley Kirkesy (Bryant) of Weaver, Alabama and Bridget Lockett of Memphis; one son, Jeremiah Lockett of Memphis, one sister, Charlene L. Luellen of Memphis; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; his mother-in-law, Georgia Cox of Memphis; two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester Lee Lockett.
