She was born May 7, 1940, in the community of Oak Grove in Aransas County, Texas, to Lawrence (LW) and Lula Hefner. Growing up in Yoakum with her mother and brother Stayton, she attended Yoakum High School. She married Bobby Clark in 1959 and later moved to Pasadena, Texas for Bobby’s career. There, she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to her three daughters and was actively involved in their activities and later her grandchildren’s activities. One of Fayrene’s early passions was sewing, and she sewed beautifully. She made dancing and twirling costumes, clothes for her daughters and granddaughters and once even sewed a man’s suit. After Bobby’s retirement, they relocated back to Hallettsville where she became very involved in the community. As a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, her served in many capacities including choir director, treasurer of her Sunday School class and teaching children about the Bible. Fayrene was also involved in numerous social organizations and supported all youth programs. She loved sports and could always be found in the stands supporting all Brahma sports, which led to her being named 2013-2014 Booster of the Year. A favorite pastime she enjoyed was riding the bus to Coushatta with her friends where you could always find her at the slot machines. She loved to socialize and would meet up with friends daily for “happy hour” which usually lasted for several hours. She had a love for all animals, most especially her two rescue kittens, and found joy in feeding and watching stray cats and deer in her backyard.
