Obituary Elmer C. Williams, age 83 of Sevierville passed away Thursday August 18, 2022. Elmer was an active member of Abundant Life Worship Center, Sevierville. Elmer was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend. He was a generous, kind and loving man, always lending a hand to anyone in need. Strong, independent and determined in all aspects of life and honest to a fault. Loyal to family, friends and community. He was a hard-working, genuine man. He began working as a laborer and ended his career with the City of Gatlinburg as Utilities Manager. After retiring from the City of Gatlinburg after over 42 years he began a second career at Lowe’s, Sevierville. Elmer was an avid musician. He could play many instruments but in the later years, drums were his instrument of choice. He performed with many bands over the years and traveled to many areas to perform at various functions. He always considered this a joy and a privilege to perform with so many talented artists. Papaw was a wealth of knowledge, taking Zach, his grandson, under his wing and teaching him everything he could with much patience and love. Papaw loved sharing his musical talents and his talents in working with his hands with Zach, creating many special memories. Papaw considered all this time such a pleasure and a joy. When it came to his grandson Caleb’s bowling, Papaw was Caleb’s #1 fan, attending every match that he could. He would cheer and encourage Caleb as well as all the other team members, garnering much respect and love. Papaw was a larger-than-life role model for both his grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Ollie Williams; wife, Shirley F. Branam; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Daniel Emert; brothers, Earl, Lawrence, Tubb and Theodore Williams; sisters, Maggie Ball and Hazel Williams; father and mother-in-law, Howard and Callie Branam. Elmer is survived by his daughter, Christina “Tina” Marshall (Jim); grandchildren, Zach Emert (Tip), Caleb Marshall; sister, Ruth Shultz; special niece, Drema J. Williams; nephews, Bobby Shultz, and Johnnie Williams. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Monday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with service to follow at 7PM. Rev Tim Parton and Ray Ball will be officiating. Graveside service will be 10AM Tuesday at Knob Creek Cemetery with Rev. Steve Rose officiating.
