Ellen (Harney) Pugh, 82, a wife, mother, and the “mail lady” at The Columbus Dispatch for many years, died Dec. 27, 2022, in Westerville, Ohio. Born Feb. 25, 1940, to Lois and Cliff Harney, she lived most of her life in Columbus and Westerville. She was the wife of James A. “Jim” Pugh who died Nov. 26, 2021. After raising her children, she took a job in the mailroom at the newspaper, distributing the mail for 22 years while collecting stories from the staff on five floors, including the executive offices. She is survived by her daughter Kristy Pugh and her son Paul Bando and son Jim (Lori) and their daughters Ingrid, Carley and Lauren, and a sister Kay (Dave) Schuster. Also, by several nieces and nephews including Kathy Strawn and Debbie Brown, and a wide circle of Westerville High School classmates with whom she traveled the world, from Lake Erie to Russia and many countries, castles, and museums in between. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Pat Bailey, and brother Roger Harney. Visitation will be from 2 PM to 4 PM Jan. 7th, 2023, at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home 515 High Street, Worthington. A service will follow at 4 PM and friends are asked to bring a remembrance to share.
